Inktense

So I've finally started rendering 'Le Ninja de l'Avenir'. I photocopied the picture to do some trials first before I completely ruin the final haha. Anyway, here is a version using Inktense Derwent pencils, one without water, the other with. I think it's quite successful and am tempted to just use this version (despite the crappy photocopied-ness) but this will probably be the "look" I use.

The Fourth of Frustration

So I'm finding today really annoying and frustrating. I've been drawing, but getting nowhere so I feel like today is a waste. Frustrated creatively perhaps?

Anyway I found some older sketches I decided to scan in because I could:

Today I got out some old dinosaur books and drew some studies.

W.I.P. - Protective Mother

Havn't decided how I'm proceeding with 'Le Ninja de l'Avenir' but already have an idea for another piece. I've reawakened my old love of dinosaurs. However I'm not too familiar with their anatomy (hence the bad sketches lol). I'm actually thinking of moving away from dinosaurs a bit and perhaps creating a more exciting creature with dinosaur features...we'll see.

Fortress Gateway

Spent most of the day trying to complete this and now it's done. It's not great but it's definitely an improvement from my previous environment attempt. Watching a tutorial on Youtube helped a little. I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out, especially the water. Time to move on.

W.I.P. - Fortress Gateway

So this is the newest piece I'm working on. Basically a take-two for environments. This time I'm using a photo reference as my starting point from when I was in New Zealand in 2008 for a holiday. I'm liking it so far, let's hope it works.

A Lucky Find

While looking through photos on dad's computer I found a pretty good photo of one of my year 12 works (2009) which I planned to use for my pre-selection kit. Score!

It's an oil painting (91cmx121cm) of my grandpa, the writing you probably can't see on the side are some of his good and bad memories in his own handwriting. The theme was age and emotions. It's one of two (the other being my nana) but I didn't have any photos plus I didn't like it as much as this one anyway lol.

The Queen is Complete

So it's evident I don't know how to paint the hair and the faint shadow I've added probably makes no sense with the light source, but I think I'm calling it finished and moving on. One image is now ready for my pre-selection kit lol.

W.I.P. - The Queen (2)

I think it's going pretty well. Though I had to repaint the clothing because I rushed it but now it's looking better. Hopefully I'll finish it soon. I've finished off the hands and the face since the last time as well.

W.I.P. - The Queen

So today I started a new piece for my Portfolio/Pre-selection kit. I'm a lot more comfortable with people than landscapes as you can tell. Though my digital painting skills aren't great, I'm liking how this is going so far. Here are some of the steps (not all) that I've gone through.

Last Day - Short Course

Yesterday was the last day of my RMIT drawing short course, so I thought I would post some extra stuff I've done. I like these more than the others, but the scan quality is bad.
